(March 06, 2024) Norman and Margaret Moss reflect on some good news…
Margaret enjoyed her school days. I did not. So I truly know what it is to yearn for the holidays.
‘Yearn’… a feeling of intense longing for something.
Someone commenting on Job 19 wrote that Job had a gut-wrenching longing to see God, and we were led to meditate on verses 25-27 –
‘I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see Him with my own eyes – I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!’
Well, we know deeply in our hearts that we are going to see our Lord Jesus, our redeeemer… with our own eyes! And we felt the Lord was saying…
‘Truly I live, I who created all things live even now before my people. For I will never die. I see the yearning of my people, and even in these days I will lighten their eyes and they shall be enlightened.
‘For I am coming soon. Foster this certain hope within you, for it will gladden your heart and cause you to run in my ways. For what I have said will surely come about, so live now as seeing me.
‘I am your redeemer. I have redeemed your mind, your soul, your spirit, your whole self and that includes your body. Indeed there will be an identity with the body you now have. Your ultimate destiny is substantial not insubstantial. You will not be a mist but a person. In my resurrection appearances I made this clear to my disciples.
‘The kingdom that is yet to be revealed will be glorious and I will reign on earth. There will be no more sorrow nor crying, no more pain, no more sickness, no more disappointed hope, and no more death. For I am alive and because I live you shall live also.
‘Fix your faith on this hope. For it is sure and certain and it is wholly rational that you should yearn for it. Lay hold on this hope set before you.’
Are you yearning to see our Lord… with your own eyes?
