HONOUR THE LORD – RECEIVE HIS BLESSINGS

(April 20, 2024) Norman and Margaret Moss reflect on receiving blessings from God…

Young authors who submitted their stories to the BBC’s 500 words competition were honoured recently at the Grand Final in Buckingham Palace. One of the winners in the age 5-7 group said that the Queen had touched him twice on the shoulder while talking to him.

His brother had said, ‘That means you’re a knight!’ Well not yet! Maybe later… who can tell!

But here’s something we can tell… God’s blessings overflow when we honour Him!

Honouring God
We were meditating on Exodus 20:24, ‘Wherever I cause my name to be honoured I will come to you and bless you’ and we felt the Lord was saying –

‘Make it your business to honour me at all times and you will see my hand at work in your lives again and again. For those who honour me I will honour and I will bless. Do not be downcast, feel the sun on your back and the warmth and protection of my arm about you for you are loved by me as are all my people.

‘Let me visit you with my salvation. Let me lift up your spirit. I understand when you are tired for I felt the same when I was on earth. Let me breathe upon you. Feel the warmth of my love surrounding you, for I would hearten you and put my strength into you. Feel me alongside you even now.

Finding God’s Blessings
‘See how all is because of my grace, so that there is no room for boasting. Yet I recognise faith in my children, and I gladly receive their love. For I am not a harsh master or a despotic ruler. My name is love, and I act always in love. What is it to honour my name, but to turn from your own ways and to follow me, recognising my presence and also to worship and adore me with thanksgiving and praise. Let your heart leap with joy at the very sound of my name, and let your life be centred around me so that I am continually the object of your desire and adoration.

‘You cannot go too far in this. The more you honour my name, the more blessing you will find, and there will be blessing on the very area in which you dwell and on those with whom you meet. For my blessings overflow like streams and rivers as they refresh the land. Honour me therefore and rejoice in honouring me, for it is a good and great thing that you do.’

  1. Amen to this very faithful and timely message which has encouraged my heart. How true God’s blessing makes us rich (in spirit) and does not disappoint.
