TIME TRAVEL

(March 03, 2025) Dr Jim McClure shares— and challenges…

Sixty-two years ago Dr Who stepped out of a telephone kiosk that was actually a fictional time machine called Tardis.  Since then multiple episodes of the science-fiction TV series have been broadcast with many different characters portraying Dr Who.

Do you ever wonder what it would be like to travel through time?  There are no time-travel machines in existence so we have no opportunity to take a trip 100 years into the future or 1000 years into the past, however we are all actually ‘time-travellers’!

In fact, we are travelling through time right now! From one day to the next we travel through time! From one Christmas to the next we travel through time!

GOD IS THE TRUE PROMISE KEEPER

(February 02, 2023) Carol Round encourages us to know The Promise Keeper…

We all know people who have broken their promises. If you follow politics, you know it happens more times than we can count. But we all fall short because we, too, are promise breakers.

Just like Adam and Eve were tempted by Satan in the garden, we all fall prey to our human condition (‘For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil’ – Genesis 3:5).

Knowing we’ve given in to our selfish desires, we lose the peace that comes from obeying God. In Adam and Eve’s case, they lost a close fellowship with God.

Humans repeatedly break their promises. But God, who is the one true Promise Keeper, will never let us down. If we cling to Him, knowing He will never disappoint us with false promises, we’ll find peace.

THE MAJOR OFFENCE OF MOVING GOD’S BOUNDARIES

(November 30, 2021) Dr Jim McClure, noted theologian, shares a warning …

Can you imagine what your attitude would be if you went on a short holiday and returned to find that your next-door neighbour had expanded his block of land by moving the fence separating his property from yours?

You would not be at all pleased! Your relationship with your neighbour would become hostile and significant personal and legal argument would begin!

Fences are ‘landmarks’ that determine limitations and if they are ignored the consequences can be quite severe at many levels.

When the Israelites entered the Promised Land following their wandering in the wilderness, God assigned particular areas to each tribe and an allocation of land was made to each family. The boundaries of the land were marked by stones that were required to be recognised and respected. To move or remove those stones was a major offence.

In the Old Testament we are told that such boundaries established by God were definitely not to be violated. This was such a serious injunction and it is mentioned in a number of passages in the Old Testament (for example, Deuteronomy 19:14, Deuteronomy 27:17, Proverbs 23:10, Hosea 5:10).
