BILLY GRAHAM’S HERITAGE

(September 10, 2018) George Forbes, missionary spokesperson, reflects on the call of God…

The best-known evangelist of our time the late Dr Billy Graham was not a missionary serving long term on a specific field.

He was called by God to be an evangelist to the world.  A gift ministry to the church and the world, his faithfulness, influence and love for the lost is beyond question. His example to many other servants of the Lord has been exemplary.

I believe this includes thousands of serving missionaries around the word. They have been encouraged by his faithfulness to God and to the gospel by his…

  • Personal integrity in all his relationships, including his family.
  • Evangelistic association, co-workers, crusade teams and his commitments in country after country, year after year.
  • Commitment to Christ and his gospel.
  • Love for the word of God.
  • Living out the teachings of Christ and preaching them in faith and total commitment.

Billy Graham graduated to glory earlier this year. He is now with his Lord, experiencing the wonder and reality of heaven.

And sharing fellowship with great servants of God from all generations, talking about and anticipating the culmination of all things when the trumpet sounds and Jesus Christ appears in the clouds to raise the dead and establish his kingdom on earth forever.

I believe he will serve his Lord forever in the new heaven on earth. I also believe that Billy Graham has left behind to the church, to every Christian a legacy – one of commitment to serving Jesus whether at home or on some missions’ field.

As mentioned above, although not classified as a missionary, Billy Graham was most certainly called by God to be an evangelist to the world! He has left the church, the world, a great heritage.

Being missions-centralised in my thinking and observations I do praise God that many have responded to their calling from God to be missionaries. It’s so important that we all respond to whatever God calls us to do, to be!

Dr George Forbes is internationally recognised as a missionary spokesperson with a heart for the lost of the nations. With a wealth of missionary knowledge and a unique ability to communicate the global picture, he is widely known as the ‘story-teller.’ Link: georgeforbes2@gmail.com
