(March 8, 2020) Dr Jim McClure, straight shooting theologian, sounds a battle cry…

In keeping with its objective of vigorously propagating ‘politically correct’ ideas and globalist theories, on March 3 the ABC published an article titled ‘The human race is not special. So why do we think we’re immune to mass extinction?’ (Link: Global-warming-mass-extinction-psychological-impact).

The article was written by Geoff Dawson who is described as ‘a psychologist and Zen Buddhist teacher.’ On the bases of these incontestable (?) credentials he writes, ‘A report written by Paul Gilding, a fellow at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, and commissioned by the Breakthrough National Centre for Climate Restoration, put forward the view that there is a “high likelihood of human civilisation coming to an end in 2050” if action is not taken to curb climate change.’

Then, after stirring up the panic warning of mass extinction in 30 years’ time and standing on what he clearly considers to be the triple high grounds of intellectual enlightenment, godless Zen Buddhism and the pretence of profound compassion (particularly for panicked children), he continues…

‘Let’s talk about it candidly. As a psychologist, years of clinical experience tells me it is healthier to gently bring anxiety out into the open and discuss it empathically with others rather than taking refuge in angry denial or manic defence. This includes how we talk to children about this distressing topic when they want to engage us with their questions and their fears. …  Climate change is scary, and it can be really distressing for children. … Children can sniff out the anxious emotion behind the sweet syrupy words of false optimism much more than we give them credit for.’

‘Sweet syrupy words of false optimism’?
There hasn’t been much optimism of any kind around lately with large sections of the media marching to the same fear inducing tune of man-made global warming with the inevitable consequence of total destruction of planet earth!

Those ‘climate change’ philosophers, supported by ‘climate scientists’ (who selectively ignore the facts that contradict their arguments) and driven by the political goals of globalists not only contribute to the increasing anxiety and fear that children have of immanent mass destruction of the earth but actively manipulate and use children to propagate that fear!

So the article’s ‘syrupy’ pretence of actually caring about the emotional state of children reeks of hypocrisy.

After pushing the ‘panic button’ Dawson continues, ‘If one’s view of the world is based on science, we are not special, we were not placed here by a God to be the custodians of the Earth (and if we were, we have let the Almighty down big time!) and like all other species, we will have our place in the sun. We will die out, and other, more adaptable, life forms will take our place.’

The opposite is true!
Notice the dogmatic arrogance of the comment, ‘… we are not special, we were not placed here by a God to be the custodians of the Earth.’

As Christians we profoundly refute that assertion! The opposite is true! We could advance many arguments to demonstrate the uniqueness of humankind but the most fundamental difference is clearly stated in Genesis 1:26, ‘God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’

No other creature bears the divine image.  Despite the fact that we do indeed have an affinity with other creatures God made, we do not have an identity with them because our identity is in God. Therein lies our distinctiveness as humans.

Keeping informed is essential!
As Christians we must keep informed of the diabolic attack in its various forms that seeks to corrupt the world today –

• Climate change dogmas
• Sexual perversion masked as expressions of love
• Indoctrination of children in political correct theory in the curriculums many schools
• Reversal of morals and attacks on Jews and Christians – particularly the supressing of the Christian voice and witness.

As the world slides into a morass of political, moral and spiritual corruption and confusion, Christians need to be awake and aware!

We must be alert for there is no merit in ignorance!
When we know what it happening, we can at the very least pray about it! And how desperately Christians today need to be praying for the world as the clouds of darkness thicken and the biblical message and values that are clearly taught in the Bible are tossed aside as superstitious rubbish.

Paul’s advice to the Christians in Ephesus needs to heeded and acted on today, ‘Live as children of light … and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them’ (Ephesians 5:8, 10-11).

 

‘Sound the battle cry! See, the foe is nigh;
Raise the standard high for the Lord;
Gird your armour on, stand firm every one;
Rest your cause on his holy word.’
