(February 02, 2024) Norman and Margaret Moss reflect…
At our ‘advanced age’ we have just discovered a new word! It is ‘apricity.’
Apricity comes from the Latin apricitas, and it’s a good word to employ in January and February because it means the warmth of the sunshine in winter.
So we hope you will enjoy some acpricity if you’re in winter now… or when your winter comes round!
This month we want to share two scriptures that we were meditating on. One is Exodus 6:7 and the other is Matthew 11:2.
Exodus 6:7 reads, ‘I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.’
As we meditated we felt the Lord was saying –
‘My arms are outstretched to welcome you and to hug you to myself. For I am your God and I will forever be your God. You are my very own people.
‘No longer are you under the yoke of slavery. Learn that you are free indeed. Free to be mine, and to live as my children should live, Do not serve me with the heart of a slave, but serve me with the devotion of a loving son or daughter.
‘Know that you can do this and that you are able to accomplish things as a sons and daughters that you would not be able to do as a slaves. My yoke is easy, and yet by its means you may pull a heavy load.’
Matthew 11:2 reads, ‘Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.’
Here we felt the Lord was saying –
‘My yoke is lined with love. It will never chafe you but instead will bring you great cheer and total blessing. Love being yoked to me for of all things it is most delightful. In gentleness and true humility there is to be found great peace and deep rest.
‘Love my ways and as you walk in them you will find the greatest of company. For the Holy Ones and Angels of heaven frequent them and my people on earth can also walk in them.’
May you know the warmth of God’s sunshine any season of the year!

Thanks for teaching me an advanced age person a new word and its meaning! Thank you also and praise the Lord for the word the Holy Spirit has spoken through you to my heart.
