Wolverines have an incredible sense of smell, but poor eyesight. I heard somewhere that they can actually bypass their prey because they don’t see it, but will eventually track it down by following what their noses tell them.

Being Followed…
It is not always a comforting thought that we are being followed. These days we read of people who committed a crime years ago being tracked down by DNA. Their sins have caught up with them.

I find as I grow older that the memory of failures and mistakes made long ago catch up with me and cause an inward groan.

But then as we look back we can see something better! Day after day and through every moment of time God’s goodness and mercy have followed us!

And when we enter heaven it will be with goodness and kindness floating behind us like the train of a beautiful royal bride in all the splendour of her wedding day.

Being Followed by God’s Love!
We were meditating on the familiar words of Psalm 23:6— ‘Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life’ and we felt the Lord was saying:

‘Look… you are being followed! My dear ones you are mine and nothing can separate you from my tender care. I have created you that you might have fellowship with me forever. The blood of atonement has set you apart and you are mine… loved with an everlasting love. You shall walk before me all your days and at the last shall be with me forever.

‘I delight in the joy and gladness of my children, and I do not willingly afflict them. Rather in their affliction I am afflicted. What things you suffer work for you a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. There is much good set before you. I am your protector and I am your deliverer.

‘Do not let your heart be troubled and do not let it be afraid. Instead rejoice and set your eyes on your reward. For you shall see my face and dwell with me.

‘Never a day goes by for you that is not overflowing with my goodness and mercy. Never a day when I don’t load you down with the kisses of my love for you. For you will never come to the end of my love and kindness towards you. Day after day, night after night, I surround you with my goodness and my mercy, for my love toward you will never end.

‘Just love my love, for it never fades nor changes. For my love is set on my dear ones and it will accompany them all the way on their journey to heaven.’
