Mark 12:31

5 FIRST LESSONS FOR JESUS FOLLOWERS

(November 24, 2024) Dr Richard Winter challenges…

Imagine walking by the sea of Galilee and witnessing the following…

Jesus meets some fishermen and says, ‘Leave your nets, guys, and follow me.’ Then He gathers them with ten others to talk about something He’s going to start called ‘church’ and you overhear the first meeting—

First Disciples’ Meeting?
‘Meeting to order, please!’ Jesus declares adding, ‘I’ve called you gentlemen here today to assist me launch a new  enterprise. Of course, you must realise how difficult it is to get a new commodity on the market. Competition in our field is rather stiff these days and it’s going to take the best of our resources if we’re to be successful.’

DEVASTATED UKRAINE – MEETING SOME PRACTICAL NEEDS

(February 5, 2023) David McGuire, ‘the missionary with a camera’ to Romania again uses his camera to ‘write’ reports on his latest trip to Ukraine…

Once again I and other concerned Christians ventured going up into Ukraine to share the love of Jesus with  heartbroken and needy Ukrainians.

Many Ukrainians have practical needs! Sharing the gospel message of love doesn’t mean preaching only – it begins with fulfilling Jesus’ command to ‘love thy neighbour’ (Mark 12:31)!

As I reported last year – Sharing the Gospel With Words and Deeds with other photos – on a number of times caring Romanian Christians have made several dangerous trips up there to bring groceries, practical supplies and other goods to dear, distressed people who have seen their homes and towns destroyed by Russia. And to pray about needs!

Just recently, some Ukrainians were blessed by yet another such venture up there by a Romanian team… despite dangers.

Firstly

Groceries were purchased that could be distributed freely to needy Ukrainians. Here’s Chris and me loading up bread and other grocery items.

Then practical provisions were obtained, such as desperately needed woodburning stoves and generators as there is no electric or gas where we were daring to travel. And not only no heat but no water!

JOSEPH – THE UNSUNG HERO OF CHRISTMAS

(December 10, 2022) Richard Winter shares some Christmas highlights…

There’s a list that we hear much about at Christmas – the Virgin Mary, angels, shepherds … an unknown number of wise men (who were possibly kings of foreign lands).

Heroes of the Christmas story, they played an important part in the birth of our Saviour and the message that God was with us!

However we often tend to forget to list one more hero… a true servant of God and to me the unsung hero of Christmas.

His name was Joseph who is identified by his personal characterists – which we should also embrace: Spiritual, sensitive, and submissive to God’s great plan to bring to earth our Saviour.

1) Spiritual
Let’s just imagine the scene with Joseph and Mary…
– ‘So… you’re tell me you’re pregnant, Mary – and to whom?
– ‘What! You’re blaming God! Ha!
– ‘So, God did this – you want me to believe that?’
– ‘Okay then… what’s else has God been doing to you?’

PRAYING TO AND TRUSTING GOD BRINGS BLESSINGS

(August 29, 2022) Robert McQuillan encourages caring for others, Christain or not…

Dear Dr Robert

This isn’t a question but a thanks to God! I’ve learned that my article – Lost at Sea has blessed readers, including a pastor friend who had a similar experience and has emailed the following: ‘I really related to and enjoyed reading your article realising you had a good outcome like I did back in the early 90’s. God certainly has watched over our lives and we still get to experience His goodness every day.’

So, I thought I’d let you know… and also add the following that I didn’t know about at the time— On the same night (A hundred kms down the coast) sadly another man was not as fortunate as I was and didn’t return to his family but got lost and caught in the severe storm that came through at 1am. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-07-27/missing-search-fisherman-ian-gray-suspended-wa-police/101275878. You only realise the true danger when actually faced with it. I am so blessed to be alive. This unfortunate man’s family needs our prayers. Andrew.
