THERE’S ZERO PRESSURE TO BE PERFECT

(February 08, 2025) Carol Round reflects…

Listening to a local Christian radio station recently, I heard a commentator say: ‘You’re under zero pressure to be perfect.’ I’d missed the opening introduction to her statement but this sentence struck a chord with me.

I’m a recovering perfectionist raised by a mother who expected my sister and me to be perfect. It wasn’t so much our behaviour as she expected us to do everything perfectly. She set high standards for us at home and in our schoolwork.

RUN TO WIN!

(February 07, 2025) Angeline Selvakumari encourages…

It was the 1986 Asian Games and the 800m final in Seoul was about to take place. The entire nation was on the edge of its seat, eagerly anticipating a nail-biting finish by Shiny Abraham, one of India’s finest athletes. Expectations soared as people hoped she would secure the gold medal.

When Shiny crossed the finish line first, the pride and joy felt by every Indian were indescribable. Cheers of jubilation echoed from households across the country. However, the euphoria was short-lived. Moments later, it was announced that Shiny had been disqualified for changing lanes too soon.

TIME A-WASTING? THEN SEIZE THE DAY!

(January 28, 2025) Robert and Maureen McQuillan encourage moving on in God…

We’re well into 2025… virtually February! Soon it’ll be Easter— not just choco eggs and bunny rabbits saga but celebrating our Saviour’s resurrection securing our forgiveness of sin and guarantee of eternal life!

Time really does fly it seems, especially to us seniors. Recently quite a few ‘oldies’ have said this to us and we’ve been encouraging them to keep on keeping on, especially if they’re still in ministry!

Yes it’s true that time does appear to go by so quickly when one gets older reminding us of that classical Latin phrase tempus fugit— ‘time flies’— attributed to Virgil‘s Georgics where it appears as fugit irreparabile tempus: ‘It escapes, irretrievable time.’

FOCUS ON JESUS IN 2025!

(January 18, 2025) Carol Round shares some more thoughts re 2025…

In sixth grade, an eye exam revealed the need for glasses. As a pre-teen, I knew my classmates would tease me when I showed up at school with bottle-thick lenses in my frames.

Donning my new glasses at home, one of the first things I noticed was our kitchen tile. I’d always thought it was solid green until my eyeglasses helped me focus on the subtle black-and-white dots of various sizes sprinkled across each tile.

Despite my classmate’s teasing, a whole new world opened up to me when I could focus on the things I’d been missing. Though I eventually switched to contact lenses, I’ll never forget the change in my eyesight with the help of glasses.

Focus on Spiritual Growth
After reading a Christian article several years ago, I began choosing a word for the New Year. While there’s nothing wrong with making New Year’s resolutions, the author pointed out most people find them restrictive and ultimately ditched after a few months.

GOD WILL REMEMBER HIS PROMISES TO YOU!

(January 13, 2025) Angeline Selvakumari encourages…

I pray that this year you will discover that God cares for you and remembers you, your family and the good work you do for Him. And that the Bible assures us that our God is a promise keeper. For example, He promised Jacob that ‘I will not leave you or forsake you until I have done what I promised you’ (Genesis 28:15).

God’s Timing
When God makes a promise to you, He is faithful to fulfil it— in His perfect time. Now His timing may unfold in a day, a week, a month, a year or even across generations! However, His promise will always come to pass; remain steadfast in prayer, claiming it in faith until it comes to fruition.

(December 19, 2024) Angeline Selvakumari shares transforming truths…

As the holiday season unfolds, the world is adorned with vibrant displays of festivities, twinkling lights, and joyful carols. Yet, amid these celebrations, a profound yearning for peace, healing, and hope lingers in the human heart.

Christmas— the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth— delivers a transformative message of peace that transcends traditional festivities. Through Christ, we find not only the joy of the season but also a deep, enduring peace that brings healing and liberation from sin, shame, and the anxieties of a fractured world.

THREE CHRISTMAS ‘FEAR NOTS’

(December 15, 2024) Robert and Maureen McQuillan encourage…

Believe it or not, 2024 is drawing to a close… yes, it will soon be Christmas, then New Year’s Eve and 2025 will be here!

We have a question for our readers (for ourselves too) based on the biblical Christmas story. But let’s start this way…

Fear
The most repeated command in the Bible is ‘Fear not!’ In fact, it’s been said that there are 365 ‘Fear nots’ in the Bible — one for every day of the year! In Facing the Future, author Lloyd Ogilvie even said that there are 366, one for every day of the year, including Leap Year! (Reference: SoulShepherding author Bill Gaultiere).

HOW’S YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS?

(November 30, 2024) Robert and Maureen McQuillan share servanthood principles…

John 15:5 tells of Jesus’ desire for all who would be His followers— ‘I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.’

Oh… Jesus had many followers:

  • The crowds— those who were easily swayed.
  • The religious— those wouldn’t see, those who couldn’t see.
  • The true disciples— those who trusted Him and gave up all to follow Him.

Reflection
Which group do you belong in? Maureen and I trust that by God’s grace we’ll always be in that third category, despite whatever comes against us!

BEARING EACH OTHER’S BURDEN!

(November 17, 2024) Angeline Selvakumari encourages us to think of others…

Scripture tells us that God has called us to be His children. What a privilege! But,Paul urges, ‘… live a life worthy of the calling you have received’ (Ephesians 4:1).

  • What exactly are we called to do?
  • What does it truly mean to live such a life?
  • While there are many aspects, let’s focus on the following—

Characteristic: No Troublemaking!
Matthew 5:9 promises, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.’ Dear brothers and sisters, if we wish to live lives worthy of our calling, this is a key characteristic… He has called us to be peacemakers, not troublemakers.

BURDENED ABOUT SICKNESS? TRUST GOD!

(October 31, 2024) Robert McQuillan shares sincerely…

Since I shared back in June (COMPASSIONATE GOD AND DIVINE HEALING | Connecting with You!) about trusting God for divine healing and acknowledging that He is the healing, miracle-working God, several folk have thanked me, others have asked to learn more. Some have mentioned about illnesses and some about how sicknesses and growing older (that dreaded aging thing!) have restricted their ministry and effectiveness in serving God.

I simply tell people to trust God implicitly, not to be concerned about age (David was a kid whereas Moses is regarded as an old man when commissioned by God. Many ‘old’ Christians have continued to effectively serve the Lord… for example David Hathaway 92-year-old Evangelist to Hold Ukraine Rally).

But I also suggest relaxing and pulling back from some aspects of ministry and other matters if necessary. I’ve personally had to do so, yet the Lord keeps opening doors to witness and pray for people including strangers. Most importantly I tell people, especially Christians, not to neglect the advice of the medical profession.
