A TRIBUTE TO MY CHILDHOOD SPIRITUAL MENTOR

Becky FischerBecky Fisher, Kids in Ministry International, shares about influence:

I want you to meet my very first godly, spiritual mentor (outside of my parents), someone special that I believe God put in my life. Her name was Violet Nichols. We called her ‘Sister Vi.’

She worked for JC Penney’s as a sales clerk. Divorced three times, Violet really needed Jesus in her life. One of the faithful members of our church who worked with her timidly invited her to church one day, and much to everyone’s surprise she got saved! (more…)

ENCOURAGING

Dr Robert & Maureen (2)Robert and Maureen McQuillan encourage readers…with some more encouragements:

Encouragement! We all need to hear from time to time words that inspire us. Life is life and throws challenging curves at us (even the best of people) that can easily throw us if we’re not trusting the Lord.

Charles Gardner

Charles Gardner, Special to ASSIST, shares this inspirational testimony…

Snatched from the jaws of the Nazis in the nick of time, a young boy, Heini Fiege, escaped to England to begin a new life.

It was a traumatic parting for Heini and his brother Arthur, aged seven and ten at the time, but their parents, Curt and Trude Fiege could see the writing on the wall and willingly gave up their boys for adoption to save them from the horrors of Auschwitz, where they would have perished within a few short years. YES TO LOVE?

Jim McClure

Dr Jim McClure, noted theologian, shares concernedly on ‘real love’…

‘These three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love’ (1 Corinthians 13:13).

In the first eight verses of 1 Corinthians 13 Paul wrote what has been described as the most beautiful poem on love ever written. It is certainly the best known and is often used in wedding services, wall art and greeting cards. (more…)

LIVING LIFE AS USUAL?

Carol RoundCarol Round writes inspirationally…

‘Always be joyful. Always keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus’ (1 Thess. 5:16-18 TLB).

In a recent discussion of 1 Thessalonians in our Sunday school class, one of our members, referencing chapter 5, verses 16-18 made the following statement: ‘Until our family was faced with cancer, we did life as usual. I’m actually grateful, not for the cancer, but that it changed our lives.’ (more…)
