FROM ROMANIA TO UKRAINE TO ARIZONIA

(June 29, 2025) David McGuire, Missionary With The Camera, reports again from Romania and Ukraine… and shares about a new missionary venture to America… with his camera.

Needy Ukrainians
As before we again thank everyone who supports— and prays— for our missions-centred trips up into the embattled Ukraine! It can be dangerous at times: know that your caring backs us in helping to continue blessing troubled people up there.

We still journey up into Ukraine to share the gospel of Jesus our Saviour and sources of blessings in these troubled  dark times.

A PERCEPTION OF NAHUM

(June 27, 2025) Brian Bell shares some encouraging points…

In this short meditation we will consider some thoughts from Nahum 1:7NLT— ‘The Lord is good, He is a strong refuge when trouble comes. And He knows everyone who trusts in Him.’

  • The meaning of the name Nahum has the sense of ‘consolation’ or ‘consoler’… and surely in our present day as much as when Nahum spoke these words, we are still in need of a word of consolation from someone the Lord uses to bring His word as a consoler.

LIVING FAITH AND LIBERATING PEACE

(June 25, 2025) John W. Ritenbaugh shares on Hebrews 11:6 and Isaiah 40:28-31

(i) Hebrews 11:6 says:
‘And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him earnestly.’

Because faith is indispensable to a good relationship with God, its importance cannot be overemphasised.

Condition
But notice the condition in this verse. It does not say that God is the rewarder of everyone but ‘of those who diligently seek Him.’

WORRIED ABOUT DARK TIMES WORLDWIDE?

(June 23, 2025) Robert and Maureen McQuillan remind us that God is still in charge…

To be concerned about what’s going in our own nation let alone around the world is only natural— especially if you’re a Christian who really cares! There’s great concern over recent TV news reports about—

  • The continuing Russia/Ukraine war.
  • Escalating crime among youths/kids on bail. Especially machetes incidents.
  • Stolen cars/dangerous driving (one was driven through a large shopping complex).
  • Deliberate vehicle smashes into shops, particularly ongoing tobacco shop ‘wars.’
  • And of course the weekend’s incredible Iran/America/Israel bombing incident.

Worrying Times
Other life issues and incidents lead to preachers talking about being in ‘dark times.’ Funny but in watching Worrying Times an old WW2 movie last week, at one point prime minister Winston Churchill tells England that they are living in dark times!

TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE TO SHARE JESUS

(June 21, 2025) Dr Sam Selva Raj shares…

As a young man called to serve God I experienced the truth of Psalm 136:1,23NKJV— ‘Oh, give thanks to the Lord… Who remembered us in our low estate, for His mercy endures forever.’

From the beginning of my ministerial life, God gave me the desire and mindset to go to any extent in taking up any challenge to glorify Him and extending His kingdom— without expecting any immediate rewards.

WHEN ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND SUBMISSION COLLIDE

(June 20, 2025) Mama Lava challenges us as she shares from her heart…

What an amazing exhortation is Proverbs 3:5!

In fact, I know several people who claim it as their favourite verse. I’m sure several of you can quote it if I just give the address.

NASB reads: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Difference!
I’ve quoted the above from the New American Standard Bible as I memorised it when I was a child… but have emphasised two words. The Bible I use for my devotions now is the New International Version and when I came across this verse a few days ago, it stopped me in my tracks.

ARE YOU LEAVING A LEGACY TO YOUR CHILDREN?

(June 17, 2025) Angeline Selvakumari shares another timely challenge…

It’s hard to believe that we have already completed nearly six months of 2025. It feels as though the year has just begun, yet we are already entering its second half.

1. Divine Favour
This brings to mind the verse from Habakkuk 3:2NKJV, ‘O Lord, revive your work in the midst of the years.’ Complete Jewish Bible reads: ‘Bring your work to life in our own age, make it known in our own time.’

Revive is chayah… to restore, revitalise, ‘breathe life into’ and work is po`al meaning act, deed, do, getting. My prayer is that the Lord will revive you, your family, ministry, business, profession, or studies with His divine favour and mercy in this second half of the year.

HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERMENT

(June 16, 2025) Dr Richard Winter reminds us of a special day…

June 8 saw many churches celebrating Pentecost— rejoicing about that first outpouring of the powerful Holy Spirit 50 days after Easter as recorded by Dr Luke in Acts 2.

Pentecost
Now Pentecost was originally a Jewish celebration observed 50 days after the first day of Passover. This harvest festival celebration was also called the Feast of Weeks and Shavuot.

For Christians that Acts 2 Pentecost is significant because it marked the beginning of the Christian church and our Holy Spirit empowerment to spread the message of Jesus… and to move in spiritual power (1Corinthian 12:8-11).

JESUS HELPED SUPERSONIC PILOT SEE WORLD ANEW AT 60,000 FEET

(June 12, 2025) Charles Gardner shares…

Piloting over 800 Trans-Atlantic flights at supersonic speed is not something many of us can boast about.

But Captain Brian Walpole has it all in his logbook— and though the story of his engagement with the heavens is certainly an uplifting one, it is his flight to faith that he credits as being of far greater importance.

A former RAF officer from Surrey, England, he began flying in a two-seater Tiger Moth biplane and progressed to flying jets in aerobatic displays before switching to commercial aviation.

Captaining Concorde for British Airways, flying at 1,350mph (twice the speed of sound) and at one time being boss of the entire supersonic operation was clearly the peak of his career, as he recounts so enthusiastically in his autobiography Captain Concorde (Grace and Down Publishing, 2024).

PEACE IS FOUND IN JESUS ALONE

(June 12, 2025) Carol Round shares comforting truths for troubled souls…

While cleaning my house recently, I listened to a talk show interview with a woman in her late 40s, maybe early 50s. The news was up next, and I didn’t want to miss the weather forecast.

What grabbed my attention was a statement made by the woman being interviewed. I put down my dust rag so I could focus on the interview.

I don’t recall her name or the name of the show, but her statement made me think. She said, ‘I don’t want to age gracefully. My idea of aging is growing peacefully.’

Aging gracefully, according to various websites, means embracing the natural process of aging while maintaining physical and mental well-being. This means adopting healthy eating habits, engaging in regular exercise, and forming positive social connections.
