2016 – GOD’S PLANS AND YOU

Andrew CorbettAndrew Corbett reminds us that of this reality …

The capstone of the accounts of Jesus life, ministry, and redemptive work is John’s gospel.

It is quite possibly the most profound book in the Bible. It opens with the same three words that the entire Bible commences with – ‘In the beginning.’ (more…)

CONFUSION IN THE CHURCH – PART 5

Jim McClureDr Jim McClure, noted theologian, writes about three more current dangers …

‘Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.’ (1 John 4:1).

John wrote this letter towards the end of the 1st century. It is interesting to note that although the ascension of Jesus and the coming of the Holy Spirit on the church on the day of Pentecost had taken place less than 70 years earlier, already Christians had to be warned to be on their guard against the infiltration of false teaching and false ideas. THE TWO COMMANDMENTS OF THE NEW COVENANT

Mike ShreveMike Shreve shares good advice…

The ten commandments of the old covenant are a primary part of our spiritual foundation. Bible believers often display them in an effort to influence others toward righteousness. God himself proclaimed them from Mount Sinai in a fiery display, and engraved them on tablets of stone.

However, they are part of ‘the Law’: a system of religious, moral and lifestyle demands Paul later labelled ‘the ministry of condemnation’ and ‘the ministry of death’ (2 Cor. 3:7-9). (more…)

Mark Ellis
Mark Ellis brings a good New Year story…

Pastor Larry Wright was conducting a New Year’s Eve prayer service at his church in Fayetteville, North Carolina, when a man with a high-powered assault rifle entered at about 11:30 pm.
Pastor Wright, who leads the Heal the Land Outreach Ministries, had just finished talking about senseless gun violence in their community. (more…)

‘DID GOD REALLY SAY?’ – THE BIG LIE, DECEPTION AND THE BRAIN LIZARD

Dr Robert & Maureen (2)(January 16, 2016) Robert and Maureen McQuillan share something old, something new…

No one likes lies and being lied to. Lying indicates trickery and deception. We teach children the value of truth and that one’s word is to be regarded as a person’s bond. We teach them never to lie and as parents we set examples.

Unfortunately because of sin, lying and lies are part of the human nature resulting in broken or unfulfilled promises. Parents have to warn their kids about this too.

Lying is not of God!
Lying is not in God’s character. The Bible is the word of the God who never lies (Psalm 33:4; John 17:17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 John 2:27; Hebrews 6:18) and has several warnings and important things to say about lies and lying. For example, the Bible speaks against lying – (more…)

THE VERY CENTRE OF KINGDOM LIFE – SEEING KIDS’ POTENTIAL

Maureen McQuillanMaureen McQuillan reflects that it’s that time when we recall the events of the first two chapters of both Matthew and Luke regarding the incarnation.

Many came looking for the one destined to be the Saviour of the world. Doubtlessly those who discovered the babe of Bethlehem were overwhelmed and wondered in their heart how his future would develop as he grew up and what would happen to the child. (more…)

THE FORGOTTEN TREE

Stephen Hanna
Stephen Hanna reminds us of a great Christmastime truth…

There’s an object that is very much part of the furniture at this time of year. In many homes, it‘s the first thing put up and the last to be taken down. For some, Christmas would not be Christmas without it. I am, of course, referring to the Christmas tree! (more…)

CHRISTMAS – THE PERFECT RESCUE MISSION

Ed DelphEd Delph shares a seasonal thought-provoker…

Christmas is the greatest most perfectly complete rescue mission of all time in any time!

This week I met a pastor from Glendale, Arizona who really believes this. Stuart Smith started a church three years ago called Higher Praise that has grown considerably.

Let me quote a card that Pastor Stuart gives out inviting people in Glendale to Higher Praise below.

The language is direct but that is what is needed for the people the church wants to connect with. (more…)

PEACE ON EARTH?

David HodgensDavid Hodgens reminds us that events that take place around us can act as markers in our life…

Can you remember where you were when the World Trade Centres were attacked in 2001?

We were working in PNG and heard the news through a New Zealand colleague. I remember walking into the subdued classroom at the time, saying to the students that the world will change forever as a result of what has happened at WTC. (more…)
