HOW WILL YOU LEAVE THE CROSS THIS EASTER?

(April 11, 2025) Stuart Reynolds asks some questions, challenging us…

Luke 23:48ISV tells that the mixed crowd who witnessed Jesus Christ’s crucifixion on Calvary’s cross: beat their chests and left.’

Of this J.C. Ryle wrote, ‘Both Jew and Gentile left Calvary that evening heavy-hearted, self-condemned, and ill at ease!’ And William Barclay wrote: ‘[Christ’s] death did what even His life could not do— it broke the hard hearts of men!’

Easter 2025 is next weekend and I’m reminded of the question Alan Redpath asked, ‘In the light of the cross, isn’t it a scandal that you and I live today as we do?’

SPIRITUAL DIAGNOSIS

(April 8, 2025) Editorial note: The late Georgia Cohen RN was famous for her caring… and her book, Nurse Georgee. The following excerpt shares her caring heart as she zeros in on some spiritual diagnoses— giving an opendoor opportunity to respond. If something clicks with you, exercise faith believing that the Lord will help.

[A reader just come across this excerpt that we originally posted years ago and shared his appreciation. As we’ve been hearing lately about Christians bothered with illnesses (even your editor), some people we know, some we don’t … we felt to rerun it reminding readers that our Saviour is the great miracle-worker and divine physician (Matthew 8:16-17). Praise God for today’s medical profession… maybe there’s some spiritual issues to be considered too].

Spiritual Healing
In my profession as a nurse I’ve had the privilege of assisting many great doctors help patients recovery from illnesses. It’s good to know that many medical professionals believe in God’s healing power or at least are open to the benefits of faith and what is often regarded as ‘spiritual healing.’

HOPE RENEWED BY A TINY FLOWER

(April 07, 2025) Carol Round recalls a happy hike and shares a relevant challenge…

It was small and almost hidden by the remnants of dead leaves whose brown colour still carpeted the cold ground.

But the bright purple flower caught my attention.

It was a sign that a new season was struggling to emerge after a harsh Oklahoma winter.

Reminder
It was also Easter.

ALL HAIL KING JESUS!

(April 05, 2025) Dr Jim McClure shares compassionately…

Palm Sunday is celebrated throughout the church as the day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey to the cheers of the crowds who received Him as a king.

It was Passover time and Jerusalem was crowded with likely hundreds of thousands of pilgrims who had travelled there to celebrate this annual event.

The first Palm Sunday was the beginning of an exceptional week in Jesus’ life that began with celebration and ended with crucifixion.

EASTER— NO UNFINISHED WORK BY JESUS!

(March 04, 2025) Dr Richard Winter shares some great Easter points…

Alexander the Great once found his philosopher friend Diogenes standing in a field, looking intently at a large pile of bones.

Asked what he was doing, the old man turned to Alexander and replied, ‘I am searching for the bones of your father Philip, but I cannot seem to distinguish them from the bones of the slaves.’

Alexander got the point! Everyone is equal in death. From the greatest to the least, from the most beautiful to the most ordinary, death is the universal equaliser. And it can happen unexpectedly— indeed at any time!

Jesus’ death, reverenced again this April 2025 Easter, was—

JUST AS JESUS HAS SAID!

(April 03, 2025) Norman and Margaret Moss share another precious meditation…

It could be argued that Rudyard Kipling’s Just So stories should be called ‘Just not so.’

The rhinoceros, for instance, did not get his wrinkled skin because long ago he took off his skin and left it on the beach while he went swimming, and someone put cake crumbs inside to make it itchy. However Rudyard Kipling’s little daughter wanted the stories told just so which is how they got their name.

VETERAN WOMAN MISSIONARY HELPS DE-STRESS BELIEVERS

(March 31, 2025) Mark Ellis shares…

A daughter of missionaries, Gaylen Williams joined Wycliffe Bible Translators when she was only 20, the youngest person at the time serving with the ministry. After working with them for 16 years in Guatemala, she joined the Navigators.

Later, she and her father, Ken Williams, Ph.D., began to help fellow missionaries manage the conflicts, stress, and relational challenges of mission life, through an organisation they founded, Relationship Resources.

WINNING THE BATTLE OF EVIL WITHIN

(March 30, 2025) Robert McQuillan challenges…

Albert Einstein said, ‘I do not fear the explosive power of the atom bomb. What I fear is the explosive power in the human heart.’

Interesting observation from the famous scientist who revered Almighty God. Einstein was saying that while the atom bomb has the capacity to destroy, the human heart can hold a greater destructive power!

Sadly we‘re living in days when evil hearts can be devastating unfriendly; and our enemy Satan continues to destroy faith in God and righteous living.

Someone even more perceptive than Einstein commented on more than one occasion about the evil in the human heart… Jesus. Boy, did He have a lot to say!

Jesus’ Wise Teachings
What He taught still stands! Here’s just some of the things Jesus had to say to those—

WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?

(March 25, 2025) Dr Richard Winter reflects, encourages and challenges…

Remember the response to that 1956 Cole Porter number Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? sung by Frank Sinatra in High Society‘I don’t…’

In 1998 a new British TV game show had Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? as its title and if you were a contestant, you’d probably be thinking ‘I do!’

On each episode only one contestant could play. Some questions were crazy and if you weren’t sure of the answers, you could make a ‘lifeline call’ to a friend for help. And you might win… if you contacted the right person, asked the right question, got the right answer and gave the right response.

Now if you had phoned me to help you become a millionaire, I’d be telling you I’m not a good choice! I’m fiscally a conservative, not a millionaire, not smart financially in making money.

My point here is that even though you might ask the right question, if you’re asking the wrong person you wouldn’t get the right answer and be able to respond correctly!

KEEP WALKING IN THE LIGHT

(March 17, 2025) Pastor George Caleb Oguta shares a great testimony…

Born in Kenya I was raised by what became a Christian family. My parents, Caleb and Grace,  are now in heaven… but it wasn’t always a happy family. I grew up in a disorganised and sinful family despite the fact that my parents were strong Catholic. We just didn’t know God!

But they came to knowing Him— and I too was to discover and know Jesus as my Saviour and Lord… and enjoy Christianity and a great church life.
