ASKING, SEEKING, KNOCKING (Apr 9, 2016)

Robert and Maureen McQuillan inspire hungry kingdom seekers!

We’ve always encouraged Christians to …

  • Be bold in trusting Jesus
  • Believe in themselves
  • Know that God has a wonderful future for his children
  • Experience the voice and peace of the Holy Spirit
  • Dare follow his leadings.

Commitment leads to obedience, trusting, discovery, fulfilment
Several months ago we had emphasised these truths to a young couple in whom we have always observed a strong commitment to serving the Lord and obeying his directions. They shared what they believed God wanted them to do and be – including moving locale and ministries. Believing they’d heard most accurately from him, we encouraged them to ‘go for it!’ (more…)

ENGAGING THE WORLD (Mar 8, 2016)

Erica GraceErica Grace, author and ex-missionary to South America, cuts to the chase!

A couple came to see my husband Chris and me to discuss a ‘disturbing’ trend in their church.

They said they were extremely worried their pastor had the wrong priorities: He was constantly raising money for missions and making donations to missions’ projects and such.

We kept waiting for the ‘problem’ to appear but the more they spoke the wider we smiled. Why? Well, to us it sounded that this couple’s church was a great one – so what was the problem? (more…)

RESCUED BY A ROBED MAN WITH AN AURA OF LIGHT WHEN SATAN TRIED TO DROWN HER (Mar 8, 2016)

Mark Ellis 2016Mark Ellis (left) and Vivian Chou share a great testimony…

Perhaps it was a riptide, but Sister Mei also had a vision of a malevolent hand pulling her out to sea in southern China.

While she enjoyed the beach for the first time in her life, Mei worried about hardships she faced and her prospects for the future. She was divorced – abandoned by her husband. And she was on vacation at Sanya Beach with her boyfriend, a married man.

Feeling totally hopeless
‘I had never seen the ocean before,’ she told the U.S. Center for World Mission, currently known as Frontier Ventures. ‘For some reason, I felt that if I could see the ocean, a lot of my questions could be answered. My husband left me after I gave birth. On the third day, he came to the hospital for the last time. He just disappeared. It really hurt me. That’s how I started to take my life in the wrong direction.’ (more…)

Harold Harvey 2016Harold Harvey pinpoints some Christian life ground rules …

I was talking with a friend a little while back and we were discussing the Bible and that it is the word of God for us and, as such, it should guide our footsteps in life and that it is our authority and basis for the things we believe.

Among other things, we talked about how the Bible doesn’t tell us a lot about heaven and hell or much about life after death – the very thing that a lot of people want to know about. (more…)

THOMAS AND THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS (Mar 7, 2016)

Jim McClure
Dr Jim McClure, noted theologian, highlights a crucial point about accepting Christ’s resurrection.

Thomas was not with the other disciples on Easter evening when Jesus appeared to them.

It would be pointless to speculate as to the reason for his absence, but in a sense it was well that he was not because when he eventually saw the Risen Christ, he made one of the most powerful confessions of faith to be found in the New Testament. ‘My Lord and my God’ (John 20:28). (more…)

IS GOD REAL? (Mar 7, 2016)

Brian Bell 2016Brian Bell mediates on the above oft-asked question.

Confessed atheist Richard Dawkins is well-known for his book The God Delusion. But is Dawkins right? Are Christians who believe in God deluded?

God’s word clearly says we should be always ready to give a reason for the hope that lies within us. But this doesn’t mean we’ll be able to give an answer to satisfy the mind and heart of people who choose not to believe! (Remember Hebrews 11:6 NLT: ‘Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him’). (more…)

Genuine concern over gullible Christians

Charles Schwab

Charles Schwab emails this thought-provoking note…

I found Kate Bowler’s recent well-written New York Times article, Death, the Prosperity Gospel and Me, both very interesting and very relevant. Link:

GREAT SINNERS – BUT A GREATER SAVIOUR!

Dr Robert & Maureen (2)
Robert and Maureen McQuillan share gospel good news…

Recently we watched that classic Amazing Grace, the story of William Wilberforce, an evangelical Christian, at personal cost dedicating himself for 18 tough years lobbying the British parliament for the abolition of the slave trade.

In 1807 the slave trade was finally abolished. But the fight went on to free those who were already slaves and it wasn’t until 1833 that an act was passed giving freedom to all slaves in the British Empire.

One scene from this great movie filled with Christian principles sticks in our mind as we approach Easter this month. It is when Wilberforce (actor Ioan Gruffudd) calls on his old mentor old preacher, John Newton (played by the inimitable Albert Finney). (more…)

A NEW DAY, A NEW BEGINNING

Sandro SchietromaSandro Schietroma shares realistic truths about Christians as overcomers…

I’m not sure what the last year has looked like for you, but despite what any of us may have gone through, we are now in a new year, a new day, a new beginning.

I know that each and every one of us knows what it’s like to have challenges; it’s a fact of life that difficult circumstances come up against us. But…‘Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed…’ (Lamentations 3:22). (more…)
