LEADERSHIP GLEANINGS

THE POWER OF NEGATIVE THINKING
Wayne SwiftWayne Swift reminds leaders that negative thinking is powerful – and not in a good way:

In a May blog Michael Hyatt wrote, ‘Norman Vincent Peale published The Power of Positive Thinking in 1952. But it’s only more recently that we’re learning about the destructive power of negative thinking.’ (more…)

JEWISH BOY’S NARROW ESCAPE FROM THE NAZIS

Charles Gardner

Charles Gardner, Special to ASSIST, shares this inspirational testimony…

Snatched from the jaws of the Nazis in the nick of time, a young boy, Heini Fiege, escaped to England to begin a new life.

It was a traumatic parting for Heini and his brother Arthur, aged seven and ten at the time, but their parents, Curt and Trude Fiege could see the writing on the wall and willingly gave up their boys for adoption to save them from the horrors of Auschwitz, where they would have perished within a few short years. LIVING LIFE AS USUAL?

Carol RoundCarol Round writes inspirationally…

‘Always be joyful. Always keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus’ (1 Thess. 5:16-18 TLB).

In a recent discussion of 1 Thessalonians in our Sunday school class, one of our members, referencing chapter 5, verses 16-18 made the following statement: ‘Until our family was faced with cancer, we did life as usual. I’m actually grateful, not for the cancer, but that it changed our lives.’ (more…)

HOLY SPIRIT INTERCESSION

Mike Shreve
Mike Shreve, evangelist, pastor and author, reminds believers of the Spirit’s work in the church…

According to 1 Kings 8:59, God maintains the cause of his people at all times. How? By the constant intercession ascending to him – flowing like a river from the Son of God and from the Holy Spirit.

Most believers know that Jesus is our high priest who ‘ever lives’ to make intercession for us (Heb. 7:25; Rom. 8:34). Few realise that the Holy Spirit also petitions the Father on our behalf. This is a sound biblical truth that we need to know. (more…)

MESOTHELIOMA HEALING MIRACLE FROM GOD

Mark Ellis
Mark Ellis shares an amazing story of God’s miraculous power …

Leon Freitag thought he had a stubborn case of bronchitis, but when he couldn’t make it up a staircase without stopping to catch his breath, he knew something wasn’t right.

LEADERSHIP

INFLUENCE – THE PRIORITY OF TOUCHING OTHERS
Wayne Swift

Wayne Swift challenges:

In his book, Drucker and Me, Bob Buford writes about the relationship and influence Australian born ‘father of modern management’ Peter Drucker had on his life, business and ministry.

As Peter Drucker was nearing death, his wife Doris’ simple words -‘This time he’s not coming back’ – carried with them the enormousness of the person who was about to be lost to all. (more…)

MUSLIM PILGRIM FINDS JESUS IN MECCA

Charles GardnerCharles Gardner, Special to ASSIST, shares an inspirational testimony…

A Muslim man from Turkey went on a pilgrimage to Mecca in a desperate bid to get his life straightened out – and met Jesus!

A wife-beater who was addicted to alcohol, Ali Pektash was on a visit to the famous shrine when he fell asleep under the burning sun. Jesus twice appeared to him in a dream, telling him to leave the area and spread the gospel, and left a permanent mark where he touched him on the chest. (more…)

BIBLE HIDDEN UNDER FLOOR FOUND BY CHILDREN IN COMMUNIST ROMANIA

Mark Ellis

Mark Ellis brings an inspirational story of how God answered prayer in unexpected way:

Izabella grew up in communist Romania at a time when no one was allowed to go to church, have Bibles in their possession, or openly talk about God.

‘When I was seven and my brother was 10, we found a Bible hidden in the floor of our house. We didn’t know what it was,’ she said in a report by Samaritan’s Purse. (more…)

BECOMING FEARLESS

Elizabeth Shreve aElizabeth Shreve inspires Christians to be bold in the Holy Spirit…

We have all heard 2 Timothy 1:7 so many times … but for the sake of this article I will repeat it to you again: ‘God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, and love and a sound mind.’

God really wants you to use that power! It doesn’t take courage to do what you already know you can do. True courage is displayed when you’re afraid to do something, but you go ahead and do it anyway. (more…)

REMEMBERING LEADS TO IMPACTING!

Geraldine (2)Geraldine Brandt reminds us that what Jesus has done for us will strengthen us to influence others…

One of the definitions of ‘remembering’ is ‘bringing the power and reality of the past into the present.’ It is making past events present realities! ‘Impacting’ indicates ‘a strong effect or influence on someone.’

This is the ministry of the Holy Spirit – it is not merely the effort of the mind endeavouring to revert to the past, it is the omnipotence of the Spirit bringing the power of the past into the present. (more…)
